Groupe BPCE is the second-largest banking group in France, financing over 21% of the French economy. The group serves 35 million customers – individuals, professionals, companies, investors and local government bodies – around the world. It operates in the retail banking and insurance sectors in France through its two major networks, Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne, as well as Banque Palatine and Oney. Overview

In 2018, Groupe BPCE partnered with Meniga to reinvent its digital bank offering and create an innovative, interactive and personalised banking experience centred around mobile banking. Providing a seamless and enjoyable customer experience was at the forefront of this initiative. In 2020, Groupe BPCE further solidified our partnership by becoming an investor in Meniga.

The Challenge

As Groupe BPCE was formed from the merger of two different banking networks, they had two core banking systems. There was a need for effective and experienced middleware provider who could;

  • Consolidate, standardise, and enrich data from these two different core systems and ready the data for being used effectively
  • Operate at scale as Groupe BPCE has a very large customer base
  • Provide white label digital banking solutions that help Groupe BPCE offer their customers highly engaging and unique PFM experiences

Data Consolidation: Consolidation, standardisation, and normalisation of all transaction data (including transaction data from third-party banks through PSD2 aggregation).

Transaction Enrichment: Automatic categorisation of all transactions, merchant mapping, and geolocations.

Advanced Search: Google-like search across all transactions and accounts, going back over two years.

Financial Management: Intuitive Budgeting and visual Spending & Income Reports to help customers take charge of their finances.

Subscription Identification: Using merchant mapping, Groupe BPCE provides customers with an overview of their recurring subscriptions.

Real-time Insights: Delivering personalised insights to customers in real time, e.g. when a salary has been deposited into the customer’s account.

Real-Time Insights

With Meniga's Insights, Groupe BPCE can deliver personalised alerts, recommendations, and insights in real time, such as:

  • Notifying users instantly when their salary comes in 
  • Alerting users when their card usage has reached the limit, and allowing them to increase the limit via the app
  • If a user is travelling but has deactivated card payments abroad, the bank can notify them and allow them to re-activate via app
