Effective as of June 1st, Finnur Magnússon has taken on the role as VP of Product at Meniga and joined the Executive Management team. Finnur’s main focus will be to nurture Meniga’s vision and user experience, drive innovation, prioritize new development and improve still on the momentum we already have across all product teams.
Finnur has been an integral part of the Product Office at Meniga, serving as Chief Product Owner, for the last 5 years. He has grown within the Product Office from managing parts of the product to focusing on our overall product vision and user experience.
Prior to joining Meniga, Finnur worked on many high impact digital transformation projects. These include leading development projects for Icelandair and Iceland Telecom, Sony Computer Entertainment, NokiaSiemens, Virgin and Woolworths.
More recently, Finnur was the CTO of the Icelandic Constitution council that received global attention for innovative use of digital channels.
Last November, Meniga launched the third major generation of our product. A new REST API and totally revisited suite of applications. This has been a two year journey that has touched every part of the organization and driven by Finnur and his team in the Product office.
Since going live Meniga has multiplied the customer base in our direct to consumer setup and received numerous awards. These include; Best App and Web Application in Iceland 2017, Best Personal Finance Robo advisory at European Fintech Awards 2017 and most recently ‘Best of Show’ at Finovate Europe 2018.
In addition to working on digitization, Finnur has also been active in the community and played a part in founding SVEF association of Icelandic web industry, Icelandic Gaming Industry and has worked with the Icelandic government on Open Data projects as an ambassador from the Open Knowledge Foundation.
In his spare time he tends to his flock of bicycles and strives to improve his cooking skills.
The past year has been the most successful in Meniga’s history. We received numerous awards for our product innovation as mentioned above and announced several top tier partnerships with leading banks worldwide such as French banking group BPCE, leading Nordic bank Swedbank and most recently Italian banking giant Unicredit.
